Welcome

…to my online space where I get to share with you all that goes on in this head of mine. If I had to categorize myself, I guess one would call me a creative, since I come from various artistic backgrounds. Another way to classify me is as a multi-genre writer, compassion advocate, an educator and mother who sometimes picks up the camera to take pictures and make short films. I have a BFA in film production from Purchase College Conservatory at SUNY and an MFA in Creative Writing from the City College of New York. In between that, I earned my MBA but that’s another story for another day. My work focuses on race, love, trauma, identity, language, culture, so yeah the beautiful mess we call human beings.

Whether in writing or in person I try to create a safe place where we can be vulnerable with each other. That doesn’t mean I don’t look at the ugliness of this life. In fact, that’s mostly what I write about, but in so doing my hope is that we can move in the direction of a transformative restoration. What can I tell you, I’m a dreamer who believes in living purposefully, which shouldn’t be the case considering my story.

Speaking of my story, my completed project Raining Sunshine is a memoir about Tweety Bird (me) coming to grips with her dysfunctional family, her estranged and mentally ill mother through a travel narrative. Mix in the backdrop of Botswana, Africa, the Pine Ridge Reservation and the projects of the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Then add the nostalgia of the Regan Era and the early 90’s. By the way, do you think it’s odd that I’m referring to myself in third person? I do too but since this story of myself happened more than 20 years ago it’s almost like another person.

Put that all together and you have the ingredients for something to go down!

When I’m not working on longer projects, I do write shorter pieces that include essays, short stories, and poetry that live online and in-print. You can check out some of it on my blog page, Natasha’s View On Writing.

Oh, yes I am on social media. I prefer to use IG. The space, which I call my mini-blog. I update that most frequently.

If you’d like to contact me you can do so by clicking here or on my contact page. I am looking for representation, and I do come out for readings.

Much Love,
